Michigan Perch Fishing Report

Lake Erie near Monroe, Michigan

This week has been "Spotty" but when you find them fishing is fast. Don't be afaid to move several times if your first location does not produce.
Fishing has been very good early in the day around Turtle Island with many limit catchs of 8 and 9 inch perch

Limit catchs of larger perch (up to 12″) are being caught around Sputnik using emerald shiners in 20 to 23 feet of water.

Just off the "Platform on the Ohio side of the channel has been producing a mixed bag.

Most of the bait shops have a fair supply on emerald shiners, but call ahead, some of the shops are mixing in  chubs with the emeralds.

Luna Pier Harbor Club Marina has "Golden Shiners" which are very good alturnative to emerald shiners.

Ohio upped it’s limit to 30 perch per angler this season – Michigan still remains at 50 per angler

MDNR Reoprt

Lake Erie - Perch fishing slowed this week. Good places to try are near the mouth of the River Raisin near Buoys 1 and 2, Luna Pier in 18 feet of water or Stony Point in 22 feet of water. Cooler water temperatures ushered in a few walleye near the River Raisin however the extreme warm up most likely sent the fish back to deeper water. When the next cold front hits, try trolling crawler harnesses.
