Lake Erie Perch Fishing Report, Monroe Michigan 11-09-2012
Lake Erie near Monroe, Michigan
11-10-2012
We starting fishing again after "Sandy" there have been lots of spots on the Michigan side of Lake Erie around the dumping grounds and the Raisin River where the water is gin clear. Gin clear water holds no food, no bait, and no perch or walleye.
We have been fishing over on the Ohio side near the Toledo water intake anywhere from 22 to 16 feet of water. You just have to search around a bit to find them. Wed. Nov. 7th we had north east wind that muddied up the dumping ground area and the perch moved in and we caught and average of 10 inchers. Our best day in weeks size wise. The Michigan side in front of Toledo Beach Marina, and the Homrich mansion in 9 to 14 feet has been OK the past couple of days. The fish we caught are big and impressive but we couldn't limit out. We would catch 10 to 15 then they would quit and we would have to move a couple of hundred yards and do the same thing.
Get out if you can! We have caught some very impressive size perch. You don't have to travel far. The surface temp. of the water has been around 54 degrees and the big ones have moved into 12 to 18 feet of water. The junk fish have been non-existent.
Remember your in Ohio and the limit is 30 per person. A word of caution the ODNR will stop and count your fish - fines start at $20.00 per perch over!!!
Ohio's perch limit is 30 per angler this season
Michigan perch limit remains at 50 per angler
Lake Erie: Is producing a few walleye for those trolling perch rigs in the early morning or late evening. For bluegill, perch and crappie, try the docks at the Metro Park Marina.

Ohio DNR fishing report
Western Basin
Wind, waves and muddy water have limited most fishing opportunities on Lake Erie over the past week (as of 11/6/12). As the lake starts to clear up expect walleye fishing to improve around the islands and from Cedar Point to Lorain. Most walleye are caught in the fall by trolling crankbaits in open water or by fishing at night nearshore and around piers. Fall yellow perch fishing can also produce some of the best catches of the season. Most perch anglers fish around the islands or within a few miles of the ports from Huron to Conneaut.
The water temperature is 45 degrees off of Toledo and 50 degrees off of Cleveland according to the nearshore marine forecast.
